Wrestling Bristol’s Legacy: The Shamrock Story

Before Shamrock Wrestling Club ever opened its doors in Somerset, its founders were learning the sport right here — on the mats of Warren and Bristol.

Andrew Fallon, founder of Shamrock and an NCAA Division I wrestler, got his start at Warren Wrestling Club in Warren, RI. He trained alongside Bristol’s finest wrestlers and became part of a tight-knit wrestling community that spanned Warren and Bristol families. That history is in Shamrock’s DNA.

The Bristol Connection: Andrew trained with legendary Bristol wrestlers including Cam Nappi, Collin Case, Quenton Martel, Cory Grifka, Trey Coroa, and Nick Teves. He also trained with Patrick McGovern, who went on to wrestle at prestigious LaSalle Academy and Mount Hope High School. These weren’t distant connections—they were his peers, his partners, his community.

Andrew’s head coaching partner, Andrew Howard, shares those same Bristol/Warren roots. Both coaches were on the Warren Wrestling roster together at the 2009 Coventry Renegades Tournament. They came up through the same program, trained with the same wrestlers, and built the same character that wrestling develops.

Coming up under coaches like Martell and Drance — names that are staples in Bristol and Warren wrestling — Coach Andy and Coach Howard learned the sport from the same community your kids are part of today. Shamrock Wrestling Club carries that legacy forward. We know Bristol wrestling because we grew up in it.

What Wrestling Teaches Bristol Kids

Discipline & Focus

Wrestling requires mental toughness and strategic thinking. Kids learn to focus, prepare, and execute—skills that transfer directly to school, work, and life.

Resilience & Character

In wrestling, you fail and get back up. Kids learn that losing isn’t the opposite of winning—it’s part of winning. They build unshakeable character.

Physical Fitness & Health

Wrestling is one of the most physically demanding sports. Kids develop strength, cardiovascular fitness, and body awareness while having fun competing.

Respect & Community

Wrestling builds mutual respect between competitors. Kids learn sportsmanship, humility, and the value of community. These values last a lifetime.

Confidence & Achievement

Whether it’s their first wrestling match or their twenty-first, kids experience real achievement. That builds genuine confidence—not fake—that comes from hard work and improvement.
