A Fall River Kid Who Built Something Real

Shamrock Wrestling Club wasn’t started by outsiders looking to sell classes in Fall River. It was founded by Andrew Fallon — a kid who grew up right here.

Andrew started wrestling at six years old. There was no wrestling club in Fall River at the time, so he traveled to Warren, Rhode Island just to train. That early commitment — that willingness to go the extra mile because he loved the sport — is the foundation Shamrock was built on.

By age 11, Andrew was the only Massachusetts wrestler — and one of only two from New England — to take first place at the Ohio Tournament of Champions in Columbus. The Herald News covered it. Fall River noticed.

Durfee Wrestling: As an 8th grader in 2015, Andrew wrestled varsity for Durfee High School at 106 pounds — weighing only 97. He was the only Durfee wrestler to qualify for the MIAA Division 1 State Championships that year. He placed 5th in Division 1 and 3rd in the Division 1 South Sectional. Fall River saw what this kid could do early.

From Durfee, Andrew went on to La Salle Academy where he won his first state championship — defeating a future NCAA Division III National Champion as a freshman. He later won a second state title and a New England Championship at Bishop Hendricken, then earned a full NCAA Division I athletic scholarship to American University in Washington, D.C.

Now Andrew is back. He built Shamrock Wrestling Club right across the bridge in Somerset so Fall River families finally have access to elite wrestling coaching without driving an hour. The club Fall River never had is now five minutes away.

Why Fall River Families Choose Shamrock

Five Minutes from Fall River

Shamrock’s facility at 120 Slades Ferry Ave in Somerset is the first exit over the Braga Bridge. If you’re in Fall River, you’re already close. SRTA Bus Route #114 stops right at our door — first stop over the bridge from Fall River.

NCAA Division I Coaching — From a Fall River Native

Andrew Fallon isn’t a hired coach from somewhere else. He grew up in Fall River, wrestled at Durfee, and competed at the highest levels of college wrestling. His coaching partner, Andrew Howard, is a two-time state champion, three-time New England placer, and NHSCA Senior All-American who came up through the same wrestling community. Your kids train under coaches with real credentials and local roots.

501(c)(3) Nonprofit — Every Dollar Goes to Coaching

Shamrock is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. There are no investors, no franchise fees, and no shareholders. That’s how we offer elite coaching at $100/month unlimited — a price that works for Fall River families. Every dollar goes directly into developing wrestlers.

Year-Round Training for All Ages

We don’t shut down after the school season ends. Shamrock runs structured practices year-round for youth through high school — so your child keeps building skills, strength, and confidence 12 months a year.

Shamrock was built to strengthen Fall River’s wrestling pipeline. Our athletes go back to their school teams sharper, tougher, and better prepared. When your child trains at Shamrock, they’re not just improving individually — they’re raising the level of wrestling across Fall River.

What Wrestling Gives Fall River Kids

Discipline That Transfers

Wrestling demands focus, preparation, and execution every single practice. Kids who wrestle carry that discipline into the classroom, into their jobs, and into their lives. It’s not just a sport — it’s a foundation.

Toughness You Can’t Fake

There’s no hiding on a wrestling mat. No teammates to carry you. Wrestling builds a kind of mental and physical toughness that other sports can’t replicate. Fall River has always valued toughness — wrestling is where kids learn it.

A Path to College

Wrestling is an NCAA-recognized sport with active college recruiting pipelines. Shamrock’s founder earned a full Division I scholarship through wrestling. For Fall River athletes willing to put in the work, wrestling opens doors that stay closed for most.

Confidence From Real Achievement

Every win on the mat is earned. Every improvement is measurable. Kids don’t get participation trophies in wrestling — they get real confidence built on real work. That’s the kind of confidence that lasts.

Questions Fall River Parents Ask

How far is Shamrock from Fall River?

About five minutes. Our facility at 120 Slades Ferry Ave in Somerset is the first exit over the Braga Bridge. If you take the SRTA, Bus Route #114 stops right at our location — it’s the first stop over the bridge from Fall River.

Does my child need wrestling experience?

No. We welcome complete beginners in every program. Our coaches are experts at building fundamentals from scratch. We also train experienced wrestlers preparing for varsity competition and beyond. Check our FAQ for more details.

What’s the difference between Shamrock and other wrestling programs?

Our head coach grew up in Fall River and wrestled at Durfee before earning an NCAA Division I scholarship. We’re a 501(c)(3) nonprofit — not a business trying to sell you a membership. $100/month unlimited, $25 drop-in, no contracts, no initiation fees. We exist to develop wrestlers, period.

Will this help my child make their school wrestling team?

Yes. Our training directly prepares athletes for middle and high school competition. Shamrock wrestlers go back to their school teams — including Durfee — with stronger technique, better conditioning, and more mat experience than their competition.

Is there a trial or free session?

You can drop in for any session at $25 with no commitment. Contact us or head straight to registration and we’ll get your child on the mat.
